Lamp selection delay when 3ds imported...

Hello,

I was struggling for some time working with a project with a 3ds file imported. There is a big performance issue - when trying to select a row of luminaries, there is about 15-20 second delay. It only happens when 3ds is imported (about 8MB file).
It is impossible to work like that. The obvious explanation would be: 'the 3ds file is to complex', but i found out, that there is no problem when 'Lamps' tool in 'Light' tab is selected... that makes me think, Evo makes some strange, time consuming calculations while selecting luminaries and 'Luminaries' tool is active...

The cause for this problem is the complexity of the 3DS file.

Every surface of a 3D model has to be calculated separately and if the sum of the 3D models (and the surfaces) are too complex for the loading process or the calculation of DIALux, it could give a lack of main memory during the calculation or performance problems in DIALux. This is the reason why maybe the calculation interrupts or takes some hours or it gives your mentioned performance problems.

We would recommend every user to search for alternative 3DS objects with less surfaces. The key is to find a good compromise between a realistic visualization and moderate quantity of surfaces. Maybe you can search for another object with less surfaces.
