Walls go missing after I duplicate floo

Post by eletsi » Mon Nov 18, 2019 3:13 pm

Hello,

The interior walls of the first floor disappear after I attempt to make a change. It's a duplicate of the ground floor.
Any ideas why?

Thank you!

Hello eletsi,

When you use the checkbox for “fixed cutting depth”, the walls on the other side of the building will be closed. Maybe you could try it out for all problematic storeys. Please see screenshots below.

Hello,

That solved the problem like a charm, thank you!:)

Can I also ask, how can I separate a wall in a room in order to use two different materials?

For example (see screenshots attached), I want to have the room at the end of the corridor with a nontransparent wall but I can only select it as one long wall.
On the inside face of the wall in that room it looks like a shaded wall but not on the side of the corridor.

Thanks in advance.

Hello eletsi,

If you select the inner contour of the room, you can simply create another contour point to separate the two walls from each other. Now you can select the desired texture in the material tool and drag it to the first wall using drag&drop and hold down the Shift key. The same applies to the other texture on the second half of the wall. Please have a look at the two screenshots.

Hello,

Thanks for the explanation! While this works when I follow these steps on a new file, when I do it on my existing file (right click, add a point to add a contour) there is no separation during 3D View and when using the materials tool.
Is there is something or an option that I am missing?

Hello eletsi,

You just have to limit the cutting depth for the two cutouts as it is shown in the first screenshot. Afterwards, it should be possible to set the materials as required.
