Several topics about street lighting

Post by kikeblackberry » Sun Oct 28, 2018 5:46 pm

About Street lighting in EVO 8.0, I would like some help in order to understand some issues about it.

1. Groups of lighting situations not showed: As you can see in next image when standard 13201:2004 is selected not all “lighting situations” are showed. In this standard, Table 1 shows 12 lighting situations clearly stated A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, C1, D1, D2, D3, D4, E1, E2.

2. Lighting situations dropdown list (called Illuminance conditions) not showed when EN 13201: 2015 is selected. Is it normal?
3. What is the purpose of function “import” / “Image file”?

4. Regarding CIE Technical Note CIE TN 005:2016 and IES TM-12-12 -Spectral Effects of Lighting on Visual Performance at Mesopic Light Levels from IESNA. ¿Have you added to your improvement list of evo some scotopic / photopic ratio (SP ratio)?
Question is due to researchers have found that lamps with a specific light (a specific spectrum) suited for “night vision” (meaning high S/P ratio) will lead to an increase of brightness perception. So, we need less light for the same brightness impression.
5. ¿Is it possible calculate all luminaire arrangements and show them in the “result” tab? By now, it is necessary to check box “Main luminaire arrangement” in order to see all variants for this arrangement in “results” tab.
6. ¿Is it normal to show all lighting arrangements at same time in 3D, plan and all other views in preview window? It is so confusing when there is more than one arrangement. Evo should be show only selected arrangement.

7. It would be helpful to highlight road element in preview window when is selected on “street profile” window within “roads” in the same way a luminaire is highlighted when is selected.
8. When a change is manually made on valuation field (Lm, Uo, Ul, TI, SR, Em, etc.) it is not shown in “planning results” page of documentation until the project is calculated. While the change is showed in “results summary” page of documentation immediately. This behavior will lead to confusions. By the way, it will be useful to include a note, observation or warning in result page when these values are manually changed.
9. What is the purpose of button “hide light texture” on “display options” of preview window taking into account no false color neither render image is generated on Evo.?

Thank you in advance.

Hi kikeblackberry,

Please let me give you some short answers concerning your questions:
1. The selection is restricted to lighting situations matching your street profile. C1, E1 are not shown because the standard states that motorized traffic is excluded in these situations and you have already a roadway in your street profile. To see E2 you need at least a sidewalk in your street profile.
2. Yes, there are no lighting situations in the 2015 standard.
3. You can import an image for your documentation.
4. No, the street calculation in evo is according to EN13201 and ROVL only (at the moment). The implementation of these notes has no priority for our street lighting development. Perhaps in the future, but currently there are no plans.
5. At the moment only the "Main luminaire arrangement" is optimized. It is not possible to get all results for the other arrangements.
6. Yes, it is normal to show the street with all luminaire arrangements you add to the street. I do not understand your point "It is so confusing when there is more than one arrangement.". I think you should see the whole street including all lanes and arrangements that are included in the scene. The alternatives will not be shown in the preview window.
Concerning questions 5 and 6 I am not sure if you are using the street planning as it is intended to be used. When you add an arrangement to your street all arrangements will be calculated together and not as alternatives. If you would like to calculate different luminaire arrangement alternatives you need to create different street (alternative)s.
7. We will add this to the wish list.
8. Thanks for your feedback, we have already added this issue to our improvement list. It is sheduled for one of the next versions.
9. I think in street lighting the button has no effect.

Best Regards
