Indirect illuminance calculation

Post by isidoros » Thu Jul 26, 2018 4:06 pm

Dear members,

Could you provide me guidance or technical documentation with the functions which are used to calculate the indirect illuminance on Dialux?
In fact, I realized that the calculation of indirect illuminance is a controversial issue, which is not so clear taking into account the following functions for the calculation . (related links according previous discussions on forum)

1st way: Eindirect= (reflectance factor)* Edirect

2nd way: Eindirect= (Φ * (reflectance factor))/((Summarize area of walls, floor and ceiling)*(reflectanse factor - 1))

Φ = (number of luminance) * (lumen per lamp)

thank you in advance!

Dear isidoros,

Calculating the indirect illumination is munch more complicated than the methods you suggested.
DIALux Evo uses a photon tracing and density estimation method. We do not disclose its details.
You can read about stochastic radiosity methods in a book like „Advanced Global Illumination“ by Dutré, Bala and Bekaert.

Kind regards,
Your DIAL Support Team
