Calculation surface without 3d objects

Post by bochenski » Mon Jan 23, 2023 2:22 pm

Hello DIAlux people :D

I have a doubt about the calculation surfaces
When I have a 3d object imported and use a calculation surface, the calculated uniformity is 0, as we can see in the first image.
I believe this happens because the calculation surface passes "inside" the 3d object.

For the uniformity to be different from zero, I need to check the "Without objects and furniture" option in the gear next to "Calculation".
But when I do that the 3d object is all dark.

I would like to know if it is possible for the 3d object to be "illuminated", but the calculation surface does not consider it.

Thanks

Hello bochenski,

The reason for this behaviour is that objects (extrusion volumes, standard objects) are not excluded from calculation surfaces. Therefore, you got values under the objects calculated on the surface which are zero.
If you only want to exclude an area from the calculation surface that is to be taken out of the calculation (e.g. a 3DS object), you should use the function of a cutout. Please see screenshot below.

I understand

So there's no way to make the calculation surface do the same calculation as the working plane,
I say this because the working plane "ignores" the part of it that passes inside the 3d objects.

Dear bochenski,

This is not possible. If you use a calculation surface that passes through a 3D object, you must remove this area from the calculation using the function described above.
