Several lanes and value calculations

Post by martinhub » Tue Feb 21, 2023 1:02 pm

Hello,

I have a question regarding the calculation of uniformity, TI, etc. for the different lanes. If I have more than one lane does Dialux calculate the uniformity for each lane or does it calculate some kind of average uniformity?

If it calculates per lane, what does the data presented mean? Is it some kind of average? Is it presenting the value of the lane with the lowest value?

Best Regards,
Martin

Hello Martin,

Have you looked at this thread yet: http://dxboard.dialux.com/viewtopic.php ... c8#p114349

Here you will find information on TI calculation and uniformity.

Hello,

Yes I saw that thread linked in another post that I found while searching but my question is more about the lanes and whether or not values are calculated per lane or is calculated for the whole street at once and that I couldn't find in that post.

Martin

What I can see from the mentioned post is that you have one observer per lane and then how the data is calculated but I can't find any information on how it handles more than one lane (and in that case more than one observer). Is the reported data the "worst" case so if observer 1 has a worse TI will that be the value reported in dialux or will it weigh in if the TI for observer 2 is really good?

Hello Martin,

We got some information from our developer. However, we always calculate as specified in the standard

Uo: The overall uniformity is calculated for each observer and then the worst result is taken. The overall uniformity is calculated over all points of the evaluation field, i.e. not individually per lane.

Ul: For longitudinal uniformity, the uniformity of a complete row of calculation points (in the middle of each lane) is always calculated and then the worst uniformity is taken.

TI: Here, the TI is calculated separately for each observer and then the worst one is taken. As with Uo, all points of the evaluation field are always taken into account.

Thank you very much for the clarification! Now I know how you select the TI, Ul etc. from taking the worst value out of the lanes, this will help me correlate my data to LightTools.
