Sports Lighting with EVO

Post by kikeblackberry » Thu Apr 07, 2022 1:21 pm

Hi, even though on some post support teams has stated that “Sports lighting based on the norm EN 12193 (2008-4) is not implemented yet in DIALux evo.”, I do not understand why they have answered on other post “Sports lighting in evo is possible. For this, you only need the corresponding standard regulation for a calculation in the sports facility area. In addition, you would have to manually define required aspects such as a grid.”

This kind of answer would oversight that many factors are involved in providing an excellent lighting at a sporting venue, for example, In televised situations, high uniformity is necessary for smooth and natural-looking scenes, especially in this era of UDTV.

Even when the uniformity ratios are acceptable, changes in illuminance can be disturbing if they happen too quickly. This problem is most likely to arise when a television camera pans. The illuminance uniformity for TV coverage at a certain grid point thus must be expressed as a percentage change from the average adjacent grid points. This is called the uniformity gradient.

Sports field calculation grids included in DIALux 4.13.0.2 version perform this important calculation but with EVO it is not possible yet.

Hi kikeblackberry,

You are of course right about your implications. However, we always point out that standardized planning is currently not possible in our evo software.
